I have decided to try and prosecute the man who abused me as a child, I know his name and where he lived, it is slightly more complicated because it happened in northern ireland, and I live in scotland. Has anyone done this after such a long time.TIA.

You need to see a solicitor.

You need to gather any evidence you can, diaries or letters for example that may have been written by, or to you, mentioning the abuse, and take it with you.

Time doesn't have to be a bar for getting justice.

I dont feel I am at that point yet
I dont know if he is dead or alive.

It is easy enough to find that out as a starting point.

Once you have decided to act, you (via the legal process) might find it's surprisingly easy to find someone! Where you live and he (?) lives isn't the issue- your readiness to act is. Best of luck!

are you going via CPS or launching a civil action?
Police are first port of call perhaps or a support group who can advise best way to start proceedings?
Best of luck by god I hope you get justice and resolution in some way. You're making an extraordinarily brave decision
