Just thought I would start this thread, as my DH always take the mickey out of me for when I am hanging out my washing, I always have to have the same colour peg on the same item. I didn't
actually realise this until it was pointed out. Am I the only one who does things like this.

GeorginaA - I already do use the green electricity thing - dh changed a while back - not sure it makes me any less guilty tho!
Gillw - Sunday's fine by me!
Another thing that bugs me is people who say 'religion' when they mean 'denomination' - Church of England is NOT a religion!
I recently also risked black-listing by telling dd's nursery that they had 4 apostrophe mistakes in their newsletter!

anais · 24/02/2003 21:20

Loose for lose, drives me mad and is EVERYWHERE these days. Ohhhhhhh, I was so gonna stay out of this thread

I also can't stand it when the duvet slips in the duvet cover and you just end up with bits where theres no duvet in the duvet cover - or worse still, bits where the duvet cover is doubled over cos it's so squished up one end, arghhhhh

anais · 24/02/2003 21:22

Oh and fwiw Corbin, I don't think you sounded touchy or defensive. Still don't agree with you though...

Bozza · 24/02/2003 21:44

Corbin - at least you are in a cold part of America. I remember several years ago arriving in Texas in August to be an au pair - and my shock that no-one in the neighbourhood even had a washing line.

Is this weird? When at work, if we are discussing something work-related, I have to have a pen in my hand or I can't concentrate on what they're saying. There doesn't need to be paper, and I might not want to write anything down, but I must have that pen.

PamT · 25/02/2003 14:03

I can't hear without my glasses on either!!!

lou33 · 25/02/2003 14:31

My mum was the same Pamt, even to the point of swapping from her reading ones to her everyday ones if the phone rang!

prufrock · 25/02/2003 20:28

I have to have a pen as well NQWWW - but in my mouth not in my hand. Freud would love that.

clary · 26/02/2003 13:05

Fantastic thread, have only skimmed it but to start at the start, breeze, I do that clothes peg thing too (or contrasting colour eg for a black T-shirt) and really get upset when mother or dh has done the pegging "wrong" which is so silly...Some of these habits are actually quite sensible tho eg packing the shopping. Some of you are definitely certifiable h/ever! Marks & Spencer (note: not Marks and Spencer, Marks & Spencers etc, just one of my little obsessive compulsions) actually stopped "10 items or less" because my DS(ister) kept telling them it was wrong, well so she claims!

elliott · 26/02/2003 13:16

Ah I'm disappointed now. 'Sensible'!!! And I so wanted to be wierd....

CAM · 26/02/2003 21:14

oops elliott. wierd? ks will be watching.

IDismyname · 26/02/2003 22:51

I have to pair socks up before I hang them up.

All the coat hangers in the wardrobe have to hook over the rail the same way.

All instant coffee inner lids have to be completely removed.

I'm a bit twitchy about the order of my supermarket shopping in the bags, but can just about accept help gracefully for packing.

Dishwasher - ahhh. A subject close to my heart. If we are going to be wasteful on electricity and water, the machine has to be crammed until bursting. (I thought it was just because I used to be a spaceplanner in my former life). I get such a kick out of fitting an extra few plates in.

But colour cordinating pegs and washing.... it's never occured to me. I'm starting to think that it's ME that's the saddo!

sprout · 27/02/2003 08:10

Socks, coat-hangers, shopping... kms, are you me?

sprout · 27/02/2003 08:11

Oops, obviously not awake yet! I meant fms.

Azzie · 27/02/2003 10:05

fms, of course all the coat hangers in the wardrobe have to hook over the rail the same way, and all instant coffee inner lids have to be completely removed - makes perfect sense to me!

XAusted · 27/02/2003 11:12

I can't sleep without a pillow on my head. This comes from when I shared a room with my younger sister. She liked to have the light on at night so I used to put a pillow on my head to block out the light. Gets a bit hot in summer so sometimes manage with just a pillow case.

Hilary · 27/02/2003 15:44

Xhausted - snap! I sleep with a pillow on my head too. Dh thinks I am mad but I shall tell him I am not the only one...

Bozza · 27/02/2003 16:07

I'm with FMS and Azzie on the coathangers.

star · 27/02/2003 17:08

I'm finding the washing ones a bit strange but seeing as there are so many of you that have them perhaps it's not so strange.I see nobody has any of mine-I can't bear the toilet paper put round the wrong way,it has to go over the top not under.I have to thoroughly check brocolli before washing for signs of any bugs.

Linzoid · 27/02/2003 17:15

I can't stand toilet roll the wrong way round either! I also have to have my rug perfectly in line with the lines on the wood floor!

happydays · 27/02/2003 17:18

I eat most things in even numbers, ie sausages, toast, sweets etc etc.

Bozza · 27/02/2003 17:29

Ah happydays that is a coincidence because I eat chocolates in multiples of 10 and as for glasses of wine...

SoupDragon · 27/02/2003 17:52

The toilet roll in our downstairs toilet has to go 'paper under'. It's easier to get at than 'paper over' as it's awkward position. You'll be pleased to know all other toilet rolls are correct though!

Chinchilla · 27/02/2003 18:24

I am the same about the toilet rolls and coat hangers, except all my toilet rolls go under so you can pull the paper down from behind IYKWIM. I am beginning to seriously worry about myself now. I didn't realise that I had so many things that I worried about!
