I wanted to by something from Next online and stupidly created an account in order to do so. Are they going to kick up a fuss if I phone them, pay for my one item by credit card and then close the account?

no - I always found Next pretty good TBH. They let me off a bit of money when I was trying to close my account (only 30p or something but I thought they would ask me for it!)

Erm
No I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem.
Its your choice if you want to shop with them.. the can't force you !

Oh good, I just thought they might make it difficult because it seems odd how they make you open an account in order to buy anything online.

Yes, I thought that the first time I bought something online from them, GGM, but they have always been really good ime - no hassling you to buy more or anything like that.

Though obv. I think they like to make you open an account in the hope that you'll keep it on the off-chance of ordering again, and they can charge you £14 a year for catalogues .

Definitely close it if you don't want to order stuff on a regular basis.
