think we've been deleted,so shall we put ourselves here in other subjects ?
Sleepless night fretting about T and loos and lunches at big school - how neurotic am I ?!

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 27/09/2008 21:53

crumble was lovely though I say it myself ! T helped chop the apples and added the cinnamon - had it for supper with some custard, even dh ate it and he hates cooked fruit. Have had nice relaxing evening watching telly, drinking some v nice red wine (birthday present) - am really sleepy now !
I think fluff and whatnot is something that puts dh off having a cat or dog-we'd have to have a short haired dog (a whippet would be ideal ! )

OP posts:
hippipotami · 28/09/2008 09:37

Yes, the tumbleweed!!! Dh once gathered up everything he found on the floor adn made a dust bunny sculpture - he even added bits of paper he had found under the sofa for eys etc. 'Twas creepy!!
Our tumbleweed consists mainly of fluff from our fluffy rug. That was a huge mistake - it sheds like a mad shedding thing even 18 months after purchase and frequent hooverings. This mixes with doggie hair adn other dust and before you know it there are dustbunnies tumbling around teh floors....

Luckily E is not fussed about HSM. Her friend brought round the dvd adn wanted to watch it, but E just wandered off after 10 minutes. She was not interested.
And she is way to young for Mama Mia.

O on the other hand is going to a HSM party today, wonder what that will entail??

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/09/2008 10:08

T regards HSM with utter disdain !

OP posts:
hippipotami · 28/09/2008 10:09

Yes, O was a bit about the party invite aswell Especially as the party is hosted by a boy!

O had not watched HSM either and has no plans to!

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/09/2008 14:33

how did O get on ?

OP posts:
hippipotami · 28/09/2008 17:25

Apparently the party was a nightmare. This particular boy (and his brother who is in the year below at school) are a bit 'wild' shall we say. Lovely parents, but completely clueless - let them stay up till 9.30 every school night, let them paly 15 rated and above playstation games, let them 'make their own mistakes' as they put it. The boys are just 10 and 8. They need boundaries as far as I am concerned. Anyroad, apparently the boy was completely out of control at teh party, him adn his brother had a foodfight, and when teh boy hit the pinata and it broke he ran off with allt he sweets. He refused to share and his parents had to manhandle him into the kitchen to give him a talkign to. O said that he adn the only two girls invited just stood like this and did not know what to do. The other boys at the party (all the slightly wilder ones that O does not have too much to do with) were joining in with the food fight etc. O said that at one stage during the party the birthday boy jumped on him and wrestled him to the ground for no reason.
I am secretly though because I ahve been telling O for ages that this boy is not to be worshipped and emulated and I think finally O has seen it too....
And apart from the invitation there was nothing HSM at the party - O was relieved

Drama club was great - he absolutely loved it and is pleased it is on again 3 children in his group were there last year, plus it is the same teacher adn assistant, plus O's lovely friend from school has joined, so O is a happy boy

hotcrossbunny · 28/09/2008 20:46

You've just answered my hankering after a shaggy rug for the living room Hippi. No way if it means more stuff to hoover up!

Glad O enjoyed drama - am in at the party though. The parents really need to get a grip! It's sometimes good to give our dcs a chance to see other children for what they are, rather than sailing in (like my mum did) and banning children for not being suitable. Hopefully O will ignore them now

We've been in Guildford today choosing my birthday present. I've chosen a couple of lovely jumpers from Fat Face, which I hope are nice????? I'm not terribly confident about choosing clothes, but I really needed some new things, so I hope these are OK. Don't know how to link to them I'm afraid...

We have an INSET day tomorrow so I think we're off to Legoland. Must be mad

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/09/2008 21:00

too at party !!!!!!
Hotcross, is it birthday tomorrow or Tuesday ? are the jumpers on website ? I was toying with the idea of a pair of their boots as I have birthday money... enjoy Legoland
I took T when he was about 3 with a friend and her dds and we laughed and laughed - was a great day.

OP posts:
hippipotami · 28/09/2008 22:10

I know hotcross, my parents were the same... I have actually told O a couple of times to make sure he does not get caught up in J's naughtiness. Adn I have not encouraged O to invite J round for tea as for some reason teh boy gets my hackles up a bit. Not sure what it is, I used to really like him until I got to know him a bit better and saw how out of control he was. He is the kind of boy who when playwrestling will be too rough, the kind of boy who rugbytackles friends to the ground for fun. Just a bit too rough really.
These boys are continually in teh headmaster's office, I am unable to count the amount of times their parents have been dragged in to be told about the latest misdemeanor. It is never ending. Quite sad really, because they could be lovely boys if only their parents got a handle on them. (incidentally this is the lady who invited me to 'take elevenses together' which is how these threads started

Hotcross, am sure jumper is fab Enjoy legoland tomorrow, I am . We took O and E when they were 6 and 3, adn then I took E with my friend K and little S when they were both 4. Both times we had a fab time!

hotcrossbunny · 30/09/2008 09:47

Morning A quick hello as I'm off out for coffee with a friend this morning.

Legoland was FAB! We had such a lovely day B thought it was all wonderful and hurtled about the place. I couldn't go on many rides because of the whiplash, but dh took her on lots of fast spinny things and I did the more tame stuff. We giggled and giggled on the helicopters - B was in charge, which she loved - and loved the boat ride too. We didn't have nearly enough time though It closed at 5 and we could easily have spent another couple of hours. However, doggle was in the kennels there, so probably best to do it in bits. We really want to go back!

The jumpers are on the website MAS. One of them is actually a dress One's called the Compass knit, and I've got it in emerald. Another is the Charge wasitcoat and I've got it in a dark grey. It looks much much better in RL than on the web I think. Then the dress(!) is called the Rock Stripe. Let me know your opinions.... One is probably going back, but can't decide which.

Right, must be off. Back later. Oh MAS, thank you for the wonderful Birthday card. Dh wouldn't let me see it until today It's great.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/09/2008 10:12

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOTCROSS

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOTCROSS

I hope you have a fantastic day!!

hotcrossbunny · 30/09/2008 16:27

Thank you for your messages. Glad you like the jumpers MAS. Which one do I send back??? Don't want to send any back....

Coffee was nice this morning. Isn't it wet? Thought I'd wander round garden centre but just came home

Off to Rainbows in a bit. Hope you've both had a nice day?

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/09/2008 17:01

keep all 3 !!!!!
Glad you had nice coffee - and yes, it is horribly wet. The roof men came but had to leave when it started to rain a lot as they couldn't do the cement bit - everything is in place though and one is coming back tomorrow to finish off and replace a few roof tiles. I have to get to Liphook to deliver my work too, so will have to see when I can leave him to do that.
T has nasty cold poor boy and missed lunch today because they said it was wet play and he didn't think he could go out to the canteen - dafty ! Fortunately I'd packed a nutrigrain thing and an apple. He has done a v good story for a local literary festival competition - I thought it was English homework - anyway, it turns out that he needed an entry form which the teacher hadn't printed off and he went after school to ask but she wasn't around. I found it on the internet and printed it but the closing date was yesterday - seems a bit daft of them not to have forms ready in time..I have rung to school to ask about it anyway but she hasn't phoned back - what a shame though.

have a lovely birthday evening btw hotcross ! are you having something nice for supper ?

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 01/10/2008 09:21

morning and hope the rest of your bday was lovely hotcross.
Well there is no rain and even a bit of cool sunshine here so men appeared bright and early just as I was walking S to school - let them in and hope they will manage to finish today- they will,as long as it doesn't rain ! I'll lurk about a bit as they have to plug their tile cutter in and then I'll go to Liphook with my drawings - my editor is around until 2.30 so I needn't dash out straight away.
English teacher rang this morning to say that it was ok about competition and that if T hands it in this morning he can enter - though it's being judged pretty soon as prize giving is on Friday evening - anyway,we'll see

Morning

Hooray for the story comp and for the roof people coming!

I had a lovely quiet rest of birthday. Dh cooked steak for tea and we had birthday cake, baked by B and dh. Yum.

Took dog to the vets this morning for his booster and she suggetsed glucosamine for his hips. £60 a month Will need to check insurance will cover it first!

hippipotami · 01/10/2008 11:41

OMG about the vet hotcross - that is a lot of money...
Are doggle's hip problems due to old age?

If it were Dill, and the insurance did not cover, then he could not have it as we just could not afford it Dread to think what we would have to do then...

Good luck T with the story comp!

Hope you had a nice birthday hotcross

I went swimming with my friend K yesterday morning, for the first time since January. We did 40 lengths in 35 minutes without stopping. This morning everything aches...

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/10/2008 13:23

can you give him some human glucosamine supplement do you think ?
Glad your bday was lovely hotcross - at birthday cake - how fab ! And well done for the swim hippi - you are good.
Men finished and work delivered - hooray !

OP posts:
hotcrossbunny · 01/10/2008 14:17

Am in at your swim Hippi. I doubt I'd manage 2 lengths...

Hooray for the work being done MAS

I don't know about human pills tbh. I'll google it later. He wont be getting them if they're not covered though, so it might not be an issue.

hippipotami · 01/10/2008 15:16

Look into the human pills. My MIL is a nurse adn she always gave her dog the human equivalent where possible. Obviously research it thoroughly.
Also, and you probably already do this, but include lots of oily fish in his diet.

Don't be in at teh swim - am sure you would manage 2 lengths easily, I dont' think there are many people as unfit as I am.
Walked Dill for an hour today and was panting by the end

hotcrossbunny · 02/10/2008 10:17

Hello. It's sunny again - hooray!

Hippi - you could leave me standing on the fitness front, believe me. I'm hopeless. Fortunately doggle can't be walked for too long because of his hips, so I don't have to do great long hikes. I probably should try swimming, but would need to take someone with me, as I'm so blind without glasses

B is going to a friend's for tea tonight, so I have a lovely looooooong day, but am feeling rubbish so probably wont achieve anything I should be in the garden.... Can't believe how thick the leaves on the ground are Must be getting pretty cold at night.

I've got my MRI tomorrow afternoon, which I'm panicking a bit about. Apparently even though it's just my ears they're looking at, my whole body will have to go in, and I'll have a canula so they can inject some dye. Lovely lovely Not looking forward to it, but would rather manage without sedation, so they said just to come and we'd see how it went. Dh is coming with me.

Right off to put the washing on.

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/10/2008 10:44

try not to be anxious about MRI (easy to say I'm sure !) - it'll be good to get things sorted or at least diagnosed - will be thinking of you..just tell yourself that it'll soon pass.
Am doing washing too then off to the weekly Sainsbury's.
I am shockingly un excercisy - I do a few sit ups every morning but that's it. I used to ride my bike and swim a fair bit ages ago - I even swam a half marathon thing - am quite good at distances, but haven't been near a pool in years - the nearest I get is taking T to his lessons. If I could afford to join the gym where he swims then I'd just do the swimming I think and also sit in the jacuzzi !!

OP posts:
hippipotami · 02/10/2008 12:48

Oh hotcross, don't worry about the MRI - it will all go well I'm sure

O and E both have a friend home for tea tonight, so am runnign around dusting, hoovering, baking brownies and cinnamon crunch cake, weeding the front garden adn other assorted odd jobs which won't make a blindest bit of difference to how well teh afternoon goes....

I am sooo unfit it is untrue. Last night I could not get off the sofa without lots of groaning - I had seized up completely

Am getting worried about the cat. She keeps miauwing pitifully and loudly, she keeps asking for food even though there is some left in her bowl, and today the man across the road asked us if the cat was allright because she keeps sitting at his back door 'crying'.
I noticed at the weekend her hearing is not as good as it once was. She is also unsteady on her back legs. And now it seems she is dis-oriented adn can't remember where she lives adn who feeds her
I think the time is coming to let her go (she is nearly 19) but E loves her so much it is a very hard decision to make.

Sigh, who'd have animals??
