Briefcase with combination lock - can anyone help?

DH has a briefcase with a twisty roundy thing to lock it. As he never keeps confidential stuff in there, he leaves it at the same number. Trouble is, a few days ago dds had some friends round and they twisted round the numbers. So now he's clueless. Any ideas, or is it a hacksaw/new briefcase job? TIA XX

How many digits? If still on original factory settings then they are often all zeros or 1,2,3 across the tumblers. All 8's is a popular one as well.

Thanks Snugs ! No such luck - he changed it!

Surely he changed it to something memorable...

Carla · 20/02/2005 19:16

Yes, soupy, his dob. And he's tried every permutation on that ......

Well try hitting him over the head with the briefcase. Might knock some sense into him if nothing else

We could make into a new game - tell us how many digits and give us his date of birth. First one to pop the lock wins a virtual bar of chocolate!

Can you tell I'm bored ?

Carla · 20/02/2005 19:51

Cor Blimey Snugs!!!! The 040 was right - on the second lock. I would normally be able to engage brain but am trying to get v. tired dds into bath while worrying about what I've forgotton for school tomorrow.

Would you like any bits - pecan, toffee etc in your chocolate????

Just plain will be fine thanks - is that just half a bar?

2nd lock try 738

Carla · 20/02/2005 20:08

OH MY GOD!!! Whatever it was you do/did in RL, you're wasted!! Forget the BNWT scam, let's organise a MN 'Let's crack the safe code' topic

My only dilemma now is whether or not to let dh think I worked it out (given that he thinks I'm as thick as two short planks ) or to let him know someone on MN worked it out (something he holds in equal contempt!)

Am trying to think what bar of chocolate could possibly befit you ......

lol - I am picturing a Green and Blacks plain chocolate with a dark cherry centre. Have no idea if such a bar exists but since it's virtual.....

Carla · 20/02/2005 20:25

I shall have one commissioned Thank you, and thanks to everyone else too. The power of MN!
