Problems with Outlook Express....

Everytime I go on-line it opens, so the very nice Spam filter with BTYahoo can't work.

How do I stop it opening when I go on-line (I'm a bit thick at this sort of thing)
TIA

I suspect that it's probably something in the general settings for your computer that says tells outlook to open automatically when you go online. Go to your general settings and then see if you can find settings relating to modem, or online or something along those lines. Sorry I can't be more specific as I'm a mac person and not pc.

Is there maybe something within your ISP settings that is causing it?

You could try googling for either Outlook Express or BTYahoo helpboards. I think you need advice from someone who has the same combination of ISP and email software.

It all gets so technical.....I can't translate it

I have Outlook Express but use Karoo, not BT. I shall have a little play around and see if I can find any answers for you KatieMac.

KatieMac - whilst you're here - what versions of windows, outlook etc are you running; and is your ISP dial-up or broadband. Not sure if any of this will be relevant but the more info the better to find an answer for you.

KatieMac · 20/02/2005 22:13

Windows ME
Dial up
Not sure about OE it refuses to let me look at properties

Go to help - there should be a 'about outlook' option, should tell you in there.

KatieMac · 20/02/2005 22:22

You see you're a genius

Does your Outlook express kick in after you connect to the internet, or does it kick in whenever you switch your computer on?

KatieMac · 20/02/2005 22:33

When I connect to the internet. I'd like it to stay closed until I asked it to open...

Right. Off to do some tinkering and googling to see what I can come up with (I love a challenge). Just hope I can fix it after all these questions

KatieMac · 20/02/2005 22:38

Don't worry if you can't - I've put up with it for a while.....I was just well fed up

I think I'll toddle off to bed - don't stay up late 'cos of me......

sorry, one more - is BT Yahoo your email provider or your ISP?

KatieMac · 20/02/2005 22:43

don't understand the Q??

They are my ISP
I think they are my email provider (tho' I don't know what that is)

Snugs · 20/02/2005 22:46

Don't worry - answered the bit I wanted anyway!

Snugs · 20/02/2005 22:49

Do you use a messenger service at all, like AIM or Windows Messenger? There are some things I could suggest for you to try but would probably be easy if we were chatting more directly.

KatieMac · 20/02/2005 22:56

Nope - again I don't understand the Q???

Never mind, I'll cope with it the way it is....sorry for causing you hassle

OP posts:
Snugs · 20/02/2005 22:59

No hassle at all - hate it when something is niggling like that and like trying to find answers. And I will...... trust me .......
runs off to her google page to start searching .....

KatieMac · 20/02/2005 23:01
