I am so so cynical, but a friend of mine is asking us to invest £3k to achieve a £24K return within a few weeks. I am totally against it but my husband is keen. I am in South East Wales and wondered if anyone else has been offered this? How on earth would you get such a good return in such a short time anyway? (hmm)

No no no no, unless you're prepared to lose the lot. Don't do it. Really.

nickytwotimes · 28/08/2008 19:14

That must be a scam.
I'd stay well clear. there's no such thing as easy money.

saltire · 28/08/2008 19:14

There was a huge article about this a couple of years ago in one the Scottish sunday newspapers, basically saying they were a con.

And here

WideWebWitch · 28/08/2008 19:16

And it's not an 'investment scheme' it's a Great Big Con!

lulumama · 28/08/2008 19:16

if it sounds too good to be true IT IS !

unless you can afford to kiss goodbye to £3000, then avoid like the plague

Oh good gravy
Reporting on pyramid schemes bought Esther Rantzen her new orangery and swimming pool complex.

Do not invest 3k

You will lose it.

MegBusset · 28/08/2008 19:18

You wouldn't, of course! Put your money in a big pile and set fire to it instead, or send it to me, I'll take care of it

schneebly · 28/08/2008 19:18

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

MegBusset · 28/08/2008 19:19

I can't believe anyone gets sucked into these considering how much publicity they've had in the last decade. What are your friends on?

bacon · 28/08/2008 21:02

Yer, I have absolutely no intention of investing in this scam but concerned that this sounds great especially to the less switched on crowd particularly in this area of Newport where there is some poverty and people think its a quick money spinner. I think its important to protect the more vunerable sector of the population. I am pretty surprised that our friend has been taken in by this and would be intrigued to here a talk by one of the organisers. Anyway our friend said he should get a cheque this week for £24k! If he does get it then I assume he's right on top of the pyramid and will probably go 'down' for eventually ripping people off!!! Does anyone know who starts these schemes off as I havent heard of one around here before?? I will keep you informed of his progress!!

Just a catch up here:

My friend is STILL waiting for his money but he is embarrassing himself by desperatly phoning every man and his dog for an investment. He unbelievably has been brain washed by the higher levels justifing his investment (its a government ploy). The stupid thing is that he cant afford to lose this £3000! Such a stupid person and how nieve. Its rife around Risca, Highcross (Newport) Caldicot and Chepstow. But the funny thing is that its been on watchdog, x-ray (twice)so its now bound to collapse.

Money doesnt come for Free!
