Hi
I am feeling increasingly down and would really like to find someone to talk to - does anyone know of a good counsellor or any other such person, preferably in North West, North London (but other areas okay too)?

Try the Inner City Centre, a federation of about sixty independent counsellors with consulting premises in the City of London, but many of their members operate from their own homes. All of them are fully qualified and members of either the BCP (British Confederation of Psychotherapists) or the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy).
You ring their enquiry number 0207 247 1589 and a Referrals Counsellor will talk through your concerns and what you hope to get from counselling. Then she will go away and find you someone suitable.
It's a charity, so you pay what you can afford, and they also accept GP and workplace referrals which could mean you pay nothing.
I don't work for them - I'm a very grateful client! They helped me greatly with a bereavement matter.

I know a fantastic counsellor/ therapist who lives in Palmers Green and works from there - if that is too far I'm sure she knows other people in North/ North West London - she used to be based in Highate. Not sure how you could contact me privately to get it - would mumsnet pass on my email address?

Thanks percy and Marina. Percy, I will find out from Mumsnet about them passing on emails and let you know.

Depending on where you live I would highly recomend my counsellor. I just finished with her as I no longer need her, she lives very near the waitrose in north finchley. Let me know if you need more details.
