What did we do before the internet and Mumsnet/facebook etc! lol

I find myself on the net all the ime, I know that my dh is on nights this week and I am home with dd but what DID we do before we had this....TV is so crap these days

We talked on the telephone.
We drank wine in friend's front rooms, watching said crap tele - people visited each other more.
We got movies out.
We would read newspapers/magazines/books.
We would sleep more
We would have sex more.

Thats us, my family!

I find it hard to imagine not having the internet sometimes - when it's down you really notice. Just for things like looking up numbers, addresses, shop closing times, little bits of info etc. Must have spent a fortune on 118 118 the times AOL crashes!

exactly, do you think this is detrimental?
To be honest, my dd is asleep at 7.30 and so are most of my friends young children so we cant go round eachothers houses anyways, and my dh is at work so not here to speak to, drink with, have sex with lol, sometimes I think to myself, TURN THE COMPUTER OFF lol

We used to play cards.
And we played a game called DIce, anyone heard of that? We used to sit with a beer or two, 4 of us or so, and play for hours.
And we played marhjong (sp).

Now, what with the internet, we see hardly anyone compared to what we used to do!

Actually you are right, DH is often working too.

Maybe its having children that has stopped the social thing, and the internet came along to help me be less bored!

definately helps me be less bored. But yeah, I can remember being youngwer nad living with an ex and we just didnt have the internet or hardly use it and we'd dirnk bottles of wine, play scrabble and battleships and watch loads of dvds, we just dont do it anymore but I am not sure if thats purely the net or because over lst 4 years we had a baby and could not sit down and enjoy a film or game all the way through anymore for bottles, nappies, toddlers waking up, refusing to go to sleep and us bein totally knackered!
