The Odeon and mums and babies screenings

I think the Odeon cinemas as a chain might be quite open to providing mum and baby sessions.
I went round and saw the manager of ours and he agreed pretty readily to trying it out. He said he'd been thinking about it and named a couple of other ones that were starting it up soon. We talked through what he'd need - baby changing, bugy parking etc and he's just got on and sorted it. The first sessions start next month.
Thought I'd mention it just in case someone else might fancy leaning on their Odeon to provide this service.

I haven't been to this one yet - but when ds2 comes along I'll be there. I used to take ds1 to one in a PictureHouse (I think that's what they're called) which is a less mainstream, more arty chain than Odean and it was fab. I hope the Odeon ones are as good as it is much easier to get to. Just a hint, though, try not to pick films with subtitles!

oh, and please make sure they don't call it "mum and baby" - dp used to actually take days off work so that he could take ds - he loved it!

I think it's just called 'Baby Odeon' - assume you can't leave them there on their own though

Just emailed Odeon to ask about my local cinema. How old can babies be for these screenings?

ours was up to 12 months. TBH when we took ds at 11 1/2 months he was really too old to deal with it.

Yes, I wondered that as I emailed them. DS is 10.5 months and would want to crawl. Not an over-precious mother, but don't like the idea of him crawling about on a cinema floor!

It was not just the grimey floor, but you couldn't really focus on the film. That time there was dp & me & another lady with a similar aged baby (no-one we knew). The three of us sat right at the front and took it in turns to catch and bring back babies, pass toys, and watch the film. But even with the three of us taking it in turns, none of us really got to see the film.

Yes, should've done it when DS was tiny, could sleep through anything and if he woke would settle happily with boob in mouth!
