I've got period pain, a back ache, I'm tired, I've sheared a bolt off constructing the trampoline DSs got for Christmas, DH expects the house to be clean and tidy when he gets home and the last thing I want to do is to take DS2 for his swimming lesson in an hour.

Nothing that really constitutes a bad day like some of the other threads but I still wanted a whinge.

Oh, and I've eaten all the KitKat chunky bars from the fridge (yes, I know who makes them but I was feeling weak. Blame SB34 if you like, she told me they were BOGOFF in Sainsbury's last week.)

Sigh. Stomps off sulkily to the sofa for a lie down.

Hi soupdragon, sorry you are having a bad day, last week i had a similar day when i sat on my bum all day on the computer while ds was watching video's all day and i managed to get through 6 packets of cheese and onion crisps, telling dh that ds had been a pain all days (hence the state of the house). Hope you feel better soon.

oxocube · 03/02/2003 15:05

Soupdragon, "Tomorrow is another day" . Hope you're feeling better soon

GeorginaA · 03/02/2003 16:36

SoupDragon, hugs.

Hope your day improves.

I was looking forward to going to a swimming lesson today, but ds has got a stinker of a cold and is really miserable. Didn't seem an incredibly good idea to take him swimming on top of that

Enid · 03/02/2003 17:19

I've just driven 40 minutes there and 40 mins back to the Buckle my shoe factory shop and when we got there dd1 threw the most enormous wobbly, snot everywhere, hysteria, shoes thrown to the ground, the works. Ended up coming out with exactly the same shoes that she already had, at least in a bigger size. Dd2 started crying too about half way through, the poor woman behind the till couldn't get us out quick enough.

Is it too early for a large glass of red?

bundle · 03/02/2003 17:21

never too early Enid, get the corkscrew out.

Chiccadum · 03/02/2003 18:52

Mmmm Enid, after the day that i have had i am with you on the red, i might go get myself a glass right now, have to choose between chianti and cabernet sauvignon, decisions, decisions

WideWebWitch · 03/02/2003 18:56

Enid know the feeling, sounds horrible. Still, at least you did get out of there with a bigger pair of shoes! Hope you're on the second glass by now...

soyabean · 03/02/2003 19:01

I usually manage to wait till the end (well, Wednesday at least)of the week for a glass of wine but feel the need tonight after 2 monster tantrums by ds2. One was at time to pick up the others from school, he wanted to come with but didnt want to put on shoes, jersey, coat etc. Left him with dh (lucky man) who was supposed to be working. Then he wdnt eat any tea, even tho it was stuff he liked, now at bedtime he just went mad (about me helping with toothbrushing initially), screamed and shouted, managed to lock himself into the bathroom and I just left him there for 10 mins. I had got to the stage where I was worried about the severity of my own anger. Anyway, ds1 was sweet, found a screwdriver to unlock the door from the outside (its easy, dont worry, I did know I'd be able to get him out!). Ds2 had sobered up by then and we had a cosy read of stories and off to bed. I know he was tired (and hungry) but just didnt know how to avoid the tantrum and felt so very furious myself. Now I'm completely exhausted and instead of spending 'quality' time with the older ones, here I am on the pc grumbling. Think I'll go and check if theres wine open in the fridge.

leese · 03/02/2003 19:07

I thought God made Kit Kat chunkys.......??

oxocube · 03/02/2003 19:21

leese

GeorginaA · 03/02/2003 19:33

Did God also make Haribou Starmix? Cos I'm making good headway into one of their giant tubs... (ds never gets a look in. The sugar's bad for him anyway.)

Chiccadum · 03/02/2003 19:47

God definately had something to do with Galaxy, had a fist of that and now enjoying wine, with the day I've had i really had better not start whingeing, I've a kitchen with a big hole in the wall and no floor (it's snowing here) a child who won't sleep, another who is a rat bag and told me to P* Off earlier when i asked her to quieten down and a house that looks like a tornado has just hit. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhhhhh"

GeorginaA · 03/02/2003 21:00

Okay ... I beat you all.... I was cleaning my kitchen when smoke started curling out of an electric socket (and dh is working away).

After switching it off (and a panicked phone call) it appears that it was just cleaning fluid had leaked through a bad join by the socket/wall and had been vapourising, and not a fire as I feared.

Was very scary though. I'd go for the wine if I wasn't now paranoid that I need to be fully alert in case the fire alarm goes tonight (even though I know rationally it wasn't a fire).

Holly02 · 04/02/2003 02:55

OH SoupDragon I really need this thread at the moment!!!!!!

Have not slept very well for about a week (you know, problems, stress, blah blah blah). Stepson has woken my ds up TWICE now because he gets up so early to go to school and then proceeds to make noise. Then the phone rang this morning while I was still in bed - just as I'd managed to drop off back to sleep. It was my SIL, insistent that she wanted to come over with her toddlers for a visit, even though I had the plumbers coming over to fix our water pipes.

Then after waiting all morning for the #!!@@% plumbers, they did not turn up so I phoned them and they said "oh, we'll probably be over sometime in the late afternoon now" - without even bothering to phone me. SIL's 3 yr old daughter screamed the whole time she was here, generally being naughty and taking toys away from ds, who was getting more upset by the minute. SIL just kept talking, oblivious to what anything that was going on.

ANYWAY they finally left, I have a headache and would really just like to have a week on my own right now.

GeorginaA · 04/02/2003 08:09

Okay, so my house didn't burn to the ground overnight. Here's hoping we all have a better day today.

slug · 04/02/2003 17:10

The charming youths in our area had another of their drunken fights last night and kicked out the back window of our car. So far this year I've had all the wipers ripped off, the headlight smashed, grafitti on it, the wing mirrors off and they've broken into it and stolen the grand sum of 3 pence. It's not the only car parked in the street, but it seems to be the only one targeted. The police are noticably unsmpathetic. Move house I was told.

slug · 04/02/2003 17:11

Oh, and I'm having major migraines lately, so I'm off the wine. Bugger.

Lara2 · 04/02/2003 18:50

Feeling totally shite - just finished 3 week course of antibiotics to try and rid my body of tonsilitus once and for all, only to have the chills and sore throat on their way back!!!!! 4 th time since September - somebody just rip my throat out!!!! DS1 is being a little sh*t to DS2 - would quite happily sell them into slavery to the person who would make their lives forever miserable!!!!

Tinker · 04/02/2003 19:02

Can't you get your tonsils out Lara? I had the op when I was 23. It's not the nicest op but it solves it!

GeorginaA · 04/02/2003 19:29

My day didn't improve

ds has really bad cold so is in complete whinge mode all the time and for some reason my patience is really worn thin. He ended up having 5 short time outs today, more for my benefit before I really lost it than his. I think we were both relieved when it was time for his bed.

Have glass of red wine and a friend coming over with video and take out...

Lara2 · 05/02/2003 19:36

Tinker - the docs is my next port of call to beg to be put on the waiting list!!

Bugsy · 06/02/2003 10:06

Lara2, you are my double. I have just finished antibiotics for my 4th bout of tonsillitus since July. I still feel really pants and have sinusitus and earache. Last night I had less than four hours sleep because dd has a really heavy cold and ds had scary things in his room!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHH! Would currently donate various internal organs and limbs for the feeling of rested wellness!

SoupDragon · 29/04/2003 20:59

My whinge of the day: Why do shoe shops insist on displaying all their shoes in the same size?? Why oh why don't they display the different colours in different sizes?! It makes me Mad! One shop only seemed to have size 5s. Yes, I know I could ask for my size but that makes browsing very very tedious. Bah!

Whinge over

OP posts:
Tigger2 · 30/04/2003 10:21

Shoe shops are obviously designed by a bloody man!!, same as the supermarkets that put all things video and toy like at child level. Makes me want to scream before I'm even round the dammned place.

XAusted · 30/04/2003 19:36

I hate shopping for shoes. Why are they nearly all black? I know it goes with anything but it's VERY BORING. And I don't wear black, doesn't suit me at all. Most shops have 3 squillion black pairs plus maybe one navy and one in a bizzare bronzy green shade. Add to this complaint the fact that I can't wear heels over about 2 cm due to dodgy back and I can't find any shoes. Will have to wear my boots for ever.
