Why are men such babies when they are ill, or is it just mine?

On another thread i mentioned that my dh has broken a rib, he has now been home for 2 days, and driving me nuts already.

I wish he would say 'can i have this', but instead he attempts to do it himself and goes 'oh, oh, ahhh, everytime he moves. Bed is the worst because everytime he turns over i get it all again. I am all for sympathy, but he has managed to go into work today for 2 hours for a meeting he couldn't miss. I don't know why he just can't rest up. I do have more sympathy with this rather than when he has a cold (which of course it the flu!!!!). Is it just my dh thats a wuss when he is ill.

No its all of them! When they are ill you have to run around after them, but when you are ill, you still have to run around after them and the kids and do all the housework too!

It's all of them as far as I can see. Wish they could try childbirth.

Thanks PamT i'm glad to know i'm not the only one who thinks that. My husband and I were both recently ill at the same time but it was me who got up every 1/2 hour with the baby and had to do the housework whilst he sat on his bum and watched sport and sci-fi rubbish all day. Feel as though i've 3 kids instead of 2.

Yes you definitley acquire another child when you get married. I don't think they ever stop needing a 'mother'. I don't know if this is because mums spoil their little boys or if it just instinct.

I've also got another. DH and DS have colds at the moment DH couldn't move of the sofa for two days whilst DS was running around like a lunatic, DH's reason - DS obviously had a different strain, Yeah right!

I just cannot stand it when my husband gets ill. All that lying around on a sofa whingeing drives me mad. But then again this is a man who complained loudly and bitterly that I was hurting him during labour by holding on to his hand too tightly....

It's not only that, when I get a cold or feel unwell, my DH always does too....I can never be ill on my own and have someone look after me, as there's always someonelse that's worse... apparently!

when my little dd wakes up in the middle of the night (very infrequently) and I get up to check on her, I might be up for say, 1/2 hour, and then as I get back into bed my DH wakes up and fidgets around for the next hour or so moaning that he can't get back to sleep! I end up being awake for 2hours or more..aarrgghh!!!

Dh always limps when he's feeling "ill", regardless of what's wrong, even if it's just a headache!

I can so relate to all of the messages - I have given up telling my dh when I feel ill as he always has the same thing (only worse or course). The only thing he couldn't compete with was when I said I had a gynaecological problem recently!
