Dp and I have set a date for our wedding - 24th June 2006 - and now we need to get on with making arrangements.

One of the possibilities we are looking at is having a marquee somewhere for the reception. I am trying to look on the internet and have found loads of marquee hire companies but am struggling with where to put it.

I think we are looking for something along the lines of a country park but don't know how is the best way to go about it.
Anyone got any suggestions?

TIA x

Have you tried the confetti or hitched message boards, I asked on confetti and somebody suggested the perfect place. Also they have a venue searcher thing.

Congratulatons by the way!

Thanks for the congrats Never realised how much there was to organise!

Thanks for the websites will try those now.

We are in Bedfordshire so are looking in Beds and Herts at present - don't really want it any further than 30 mins from church and also want there to be local hotels where people can stay if necessary.

Kids are coming to the day but if people are onyl invited to the evening them i'm afraid it's adults only. Purely because it will end up like a kids party as we know so many of them.

Many congratulations. A friend of mine had a reception last year in a marquee infront of a lovely National Trust property in Derbyshire. The setting was just magnificent - the National Trust website might give useful information on places in your area. Local council websites often have information on wedding venues, although possibly only for places where you can have a civic ceremony.

Bet it is way over our budget

i don't want to sound premature but start looking in earnest for a florist NOW............summer is our busiest time for weddings. our florist is booked up for weddings for most of the weekends this summer.

and it is also important to realise that your wedding flowers are such a personal thing that it may take you a few months of searching to find a florist who you 'click' with. you both need to be on the same wavelength to ensure you get just what you want.

have you asked at the church about reception venues? they might be able to tell you where couples in the past have used?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! and happy planning.......

I got married 16 months ago and I got a free magazine given to me by the local Registry Office which gave information on venues in my county.

It might be worth contacting your local registry office to see if such a magazine exists.

Congratulations and good luck
