OK I know I've started another thread in Chat about the wedding video I found disguised as a Billy Connolly video but I'd really like to return it to the couple, it doesn't feel right keeping it and disposing of it doesn't seem right either.

It's a bit of a long shot but perhaps some MN recognises this wedding or these people.

So far all I have to go on is

If the date on the video camera is correct the wedding took place 11 August 2001.

The Groom is called John(helpful I know) he's like a young Oliver Reid.
I'm trying to listen out for the bride's name but she's very tall, rather gothic looking with long flowing black hair.

Bestman is Paul.

Pageboy is Sonny. Bridesmaids include Izzy and flower girl, though referred to as a bridesmaid is Emily.

The reception was held in a huge marquee, there was a female solo violinist at the wedding ceremony.

At the reception there's a sort of Country and Western style band, who aren't terribly tuneful.

I'll post more as I learn more, doubt I'll ever find out but it's worth a try.

So if you marry young you're bound to end up divorced?

Hope you manage to return the video to the rightful owner Falcon.

HongKongFoeey · 26/07/2008 14:12

omg

that's my wedding!

Desiderata · 26/07/2008 14:14

Honestly ????

LyraSilvertongue · 26/07/2008 14:15

Falcon, would you like me to ask my friend on the newsdesk at the Daily Mirror if they'd be interested?

HongKongFoeey · 26/07/2008 14:16

no-

SlartyBartFast · 26/07/2008 14:36

well not necessarily cos they were young, just cos that's life, married on 11th august 2001, nearly 7 years, what are the odds?

HongKongFoeey · 26/07/2008 15:18

i imagine the odds are good! they promised to stay together forever! 7 years is a drop in the ocean!

TinkerBellesMum · 26/07/2008 15:30

SlartyBartFast statistically speaking, if you put 23 people in a room, 2 will share a birthday. I'm not very good at statistics, so not sure how it's worked out, before anyone asks.

shhhh · 26/07/2008 16:12

is there anyway you can look at marriage records for that date..? Not sure if there is a whole database or if you go to individual places..?

Narrow it down by region..?

Not my wedding btw . AND i knew that before I even looked as dh is still to transfer it from small recorder tape to dvd.....4 years on .!

TinkerBellesMum · 26/07/2008 16:31

It has to be done at each office or you can ask the main office to do it, but without more details it's not that viable an option.

DontNeedAnything · 26/07/2008 16:36

Are their any stills of the church/surroundings you could post.

There a lot less churches in the UK that people - whch may make it more likely for a MNetter to recognise.

Blimey HongKong. I promised to stay with both my husbands(different weddings) when we took our vows, but I didn't expect things to turn out badly back then. Life happens and things often turn out differently to the way we want/expect on that special day of days that we said 'I do'. Separation and divorce are a big part of our world. They may be together still, but they also may not be.

foxythesnowfox · 27/07/2008 15:26
