My norton softare is so old I'd have to upgrade this year - so is it worth it? Would I be just as protected using a free virus checker or is it worth paying for one? If its worth paying is Norton the best value? I have a free ncafee firewall I can't use because it stops everything (including viewing webpages).

I think Norton is about the best value for money -my DH sorted it all out but he wouldnt pay for something without looking at the other options 1st.... so i would go for Norton Antivirus

imo it's worth paying for one, I got a good deal on Norton with Norton Personal Firewall from PC world

I'm really annoyed with Norton at the moment as they terminated my subscription two weeks early. Their own line help is absolutely no us and calling th premium rate number wouldn't be worth it. Grrrrrrr.

McAfee and Norton are much of a muchness, both good. I've heard good things about AVG, although we don't use that one - it may be free, or free for some people?

AVG is free but I've never tried it so don't know how good it would be. I know it doesn't update automatically so I received a message with a virus from someone who used it and hadn't updated recently.
