Anyone not using their child benefit yet?

I'am a first time mum and have recently started receiving child benefit. I was interested in whether others were using theirs? Mine is paid into a new account I opened and its kind of exciting getting the monthly statements. Are you using yours yet or just watching it accumulate?

I squander mine on special brew and fags .

I buy my stash of illegal rus with it.

was trying to be funny and it all went wrong.

really it goes into a 'rainy day account and usually gets spent on days out/holidays/school shoes we couldn't afford otherwise.

I fritter ours on luxuries such as electricity, toilet rolls and food.

If the kids have been really good I will buy them a bag of chips and some blue pop to pass the time on while they wait outside the pub for me .

Ours goes on food, fuel and general day to day living - which really is what it is there for!

Put it in an ISA if you don't need it or donate it to someone who does .

Ah yes, the Lego habit. Those wheels are so expensive!

Oh dear - I was just genuinely curious. I will spend mine on myself once it's a reasonable amount.

When I was going to reurn to work, me and dp agreed we'd not spend CB and pay it into his CTF, but I'm not working, and I need chocolate!

We set up an account for ds and his goes straight in there. We've never used it and never see it. We might choose to use it to top up his trust fund, contribute to living costs if he goes to uni etc.
