John Lewis returns question

I bought a Freya bra from JL a couple of months ago. I've been wearing Freya for years and years and have never had a problem.

However, one of the underwires has come out of this bra, which makes it pretty much unwearable. But I don't have a receipt or proof of purchase - and I'm not even sure exactly when I bought it.

Would they laugh at me if I took it back for a replacement? Or should I just but another one the same?

Did you buy it on a card? If so, you could prove when you bought it.

TBH, John Lewis are pretty good about returns, I would just take it in and say it's clearly faulty as the wire has come out already, and see what they say.

the worst they can do is say no!

Take it back. they can check on their records if the worst comes to the worst. It wasn't fit for purpose.

No, I paid for it in vouchers that I earn for using their credit card.

I've been wearing it almost every day since I got it, so it's quite worn looking.

I'll take it back and see what they say.

Thanks

If you are a Partnership Card holder it's in their interest to keep you sweet. Give it a try and see what happens!

And come back and tell us, too.

Take it back. If they don't change it at the store, they might possibly send it back to the manufacturer.

I used to work for them (not in the bra department) and they really were very good about returning stuff. Even to the two women who brought back an entire dinner service covered in olive oil who denied it had been used

UPDATE

I was in JL today, and asked if they would take it back without a receipt and despite the fact it has been worn almost daily for 6 weeks or so.

That was all OK, but because I washed the bra in the washing machine, albeit on a hand wasg cycle, they won't take it back. Apparently the vibrations of the machine make the wires come out, so they wouldn't be able to send it back to Freya.

Does anyone actually handwash their bras? Life's too short.

How crazy - and annoying for you! Vibrations? what nonsense.

Have you thought of contacting Freya direct?

mawbroon · 28/06/2008 18:03

What does the care label in the bra say? or was it on the packaging?

MrsMuddle · 28/06/2008 18:09

It does say hand wash only, so I don't really have a leg to stand on.

I would send it back to the manufacturers.

Don't tell them that you put it in the washing machine!

You have a bra that you can't wear at the moment, so sending it back doesn't put you in any different a position, and who knows, you might get a replacement.
