Robinw, when I put the words virus and attica into Google I got an unavailable site www.attica.com as the main match. From what I could see on Google it seemed to be a virus protection site, but it seems a bit odd that I couldn't access it. You could try later maybe. Not an answer though I'm afraid.

For general virus info, vil.nai.com is the MacAfee library (attica isn't listed as a virus but I don't know what it is) - you could also try doing some searches to find techie sites where someone could answer your question.

Hi Robinw,
Attica Interactive appears to be a company that supplies educational and family entertainment CD-ROMs. As Marina says, the web site is down currently. Do you have any of their CDs do you know?

It sounds like your machine may be trying to load a program called Attica when it starts up. It appears this program is then giving you a warning about damage to a file which it thinks may be caused by a virus.

This is guesswork. I'm happy to try to help if you send me an email to [email protected]. It would be useful if you could include the precise error message you are getting.

In terms of running virus checkers, you are probably generally better off running them on your own machine rather than trying to run the checker on websites. Too much can go wrong between you and them and they don't generally have full access to your machine which limits what they can do.

Regards,
Steven
