Driving test tomorrow, stressed, failed mock tests

Driving test tomorrow and absolutely stressed! Failed all three of my mock tests and had the worst drives I have done in the days leading up to test.

what did you do to keep yourself focused and non-panicky? Did you pass after a bad week of driving leading up to the test?

Just tell yourself that you only have to drive for half an hour without a major error. Think about how much better your life will be when you can drive.

Thank you @Rocknrollstar ! Trying to keep it together this morning and remind myself that, as nervous as the rustling of (mock) test papers make me, I am actually a very safe driver and can definitely make it through half an hour of driving someone around.

my test slot isn’t going anywhere, so I might as well make the most of it!!!

I made a few mistakes on my test but I still.passed.
Try to relax and drive

I failed mine twice even though I was totally prepared. First time was completly unfair, second was deserved. The third time, I ate a banana, took kalms and just pretended I was taking instructions and driving with my gran safely in the back to somewhere. I also told myself if I failed it was okay, it wasn't a major issue and I could just retake it and it was a learning curve. The first two times, Id been putting myself under pressure that I had to pass.

Just take your time and breathe, you're not doing anything you've not done before and you KNOW how to do it. Believe in yourself!

I wore a necklace my DM gave to me so that I could pretend she was in the car with me and I was driving her around. My DH told me that, no matter what happened, "stay in my lane," and, between these 2 things, I passed.

If you do fail, it's not a huge deal. I know it's time and money but it will just be a delay.

You'll be okay, though. Be sure to come back so we can congratulate you for passing or for being brave enough to try!

Treat it as another lesson. Follow the instructions given. Relax ( or try to) and listen to the examiner.

Think of all the stupid people in the world who can drive. You only need to hit that target. And if you don’t it’s not the end of the world, just a blip. Good luck!

Bach's rescue remedy, I failed 5 times and I've never had an accident

Good luck, I passed in January. Either failed my mocks or had so many minors I would have failed if I had one more, even my instructor wasn’t confident that I’d pass. I passed with 2 minors only. Try stay calm and you’ll be fine

Thank you so much, all, needed to hear (or read) this!

I passed first time having failed every mock test. I think I was too reliant on my instructor to instruct me rather than thinking for myself. I had it in my head my first test would be a practice test so felt quite relaxed about it.

I didn’t make it :(

Messed up things I had never made mistakes with before, absolutely devastated.

Aw, I'm sorry! If it makes you feel any better, my SIL failed 8 times and my DC failed 3 times. Each time was a learning experience. They learned they rushed towards taking the test, they learned how to be calmer under pressure, they learned not to do whatever failed them, previously.

You'll do it! Failure is quitting - not having to try again!

AnxiousNewHome · 02/07/2026 17:13

Yes, part of me is okay with not passing if nerves can get the better of me like this while driving! But the bother of finding a new test alone feels Sisyphean. Glad I am not alone in the failed test club though!
