I think FT students gain an exemption so they could have claimed the single person reduction form September and possibly have been entitled to Council Tax benefit while he was unemployed. If they had no income though how did they pay ? Not sure how far back , if at all , it could be backdated or to whom it would be payable though.

thanks Lizs .. she paid for it out of her student bursary ... yes i think you might be right what you say it makes sense .. however as thigs are i think she will have to kiss good bye to it all he didnt sign on or anything so no proof there I guess ..and will feel prob that he will think she is landing him in the p** if she starts trying to go and get forms etc etc ah well.If it was a case of a single persons discount as she was a student but not him its not that much for all the hassle.
