So it look like M&S are starting to make their Sparks card a reward card. Not before time. Anybody excited?

I was very confused by it this morning, I thought I was loading more offers.

The offers seem to be rewards for buying the right products. I can get £6 for spending £30 on fashion. Not bad if you were buying anyway.

Looks good, I doubt the fashion offers will be quite so generous going forward but I like that its not the money off mens socks it was so specific that it didnt drive me to spend. I've had my eye on a few things so I'll definitely make use of that offer

I always used to forget to check the offers apart from the Christmas Advent Calendar ones so hopefully this will be an improvement.

About time !

CarolinaLiar · 15/04/2026 15:02

About bloody time. It was the most pointless card ever.

I’m very disappointed in all my offers.
Iv got a £24 reward for £120 spend in 11 days - I’m certainly never going to spend that amount that quickly. A £3 reward for £25 spend on champagne - I have never bought alcohol from M&S. A £1 reward for £8 spend on tea & coffee - again never bought tea or coffee from M&S.

My minimum spends are £8 to get a £1 reward in bakery & fruit.
However a previous 20% discount off jeans or bras would certainly have been used.
I can see this new scheme working well for the real big spenders in M&S who weekly food shop and also clothes shop regularly & spend big.
For the customers who pop in occasionally and buy undies and certain clothes items and then maybe buy a few bits from the food hall it’s not going to be that beneficial.
They are encouraging more & bigger spending for very little reward rather than actual discounting.
M&S has obviously got to scrape the money back from customers to offset the massive financial losses they suffered due to the cyber security breach last summer.

My offers are terrible - highly unlikely I'll use them. I think this new 'improved' rewards scheme is only aimed at improving M&S's bottom line rather than rewarding customers.
If they wanted to improve and overhaul the rewards scheme they could have just switched to a point per pound spent system.

Mine are ridiculously out of touch with what I actually buy. And aren’t going to prompt me to spend more….

My rewards are in children's clothes (my DC are young adults) alcohol (I don't drink) coffee (I never buy it) and jeans (last worn about 20 years ago.) Previously my Sparks offers were a better match for spending patterns with the occasional misfire.
