|I'm looking for flexible work that I can do at home. I used to work in the public sector, but with a large, young family this isn't an option at the moment. I don't know if proofreading is difficult to get into or whether or not I would need some sort of qualification.

Has anyone had experience of this type of work. Could you give me some pointers. Although I've no publishing or media type experience, I'm sure it is something I could do. Thanks for any help.

The Society for Editors and Proofreaders is fairly well regarded and has a lot of info about training.

Sheikyerbouti would be a good person to ask. You will need to do a course as it is a technical skill. Also, I don't think it's terribly well paid.

Reposting this in Pedants' Corner might get you some more help.

Thanks. I'm not to worried about pay. I'm in a part of the country where salaries are very low. We just need me to work to earn a little more per week as we are pretty much being crushed by the credit crunch! thanks for your tips.
