Thoughts and opinions on asking grandparents if they are happy to look after 2 grandkids (3.5 year old and 5 month old)as we have been invited to dinner at a friend's 7pm(around kids bedtime). They have looked after one or the other at a time for a few hours in past and older one has had sleepovers at theirs once every few months. We have never asked if they could help with both so we could go out together on our own. Are we asking for too much... Their response was we will think about it.

I don't feel a need to go out by ourselves and I feel more comfortable paying for childcare if we really wanted to go out and if it wasnt for the younger one still being a baby.

We don't have anyone else to help and we have managed life so far with asking them only if we are desperate for hospital appointments, childbirth etc

Thoughts?

Fine to ask. Fine for the GP to think about it. Fine for them to decline if they’re not comfortable babysitting.
