Caterpillar costume

DD (6) is doing her gym club display in 2 weeks and has to be a caterpillar. I wasn't planning to go overboard on the costume - I'm trying very hard not to go overboard on anything , but I am now getting v. stressed as I can't even find green leggings anywhere. Can anybody help with how to make her look like a caterpillar but still be able to roll through hoops and vault!

TIA

I was going to suggest a green sleeping bag (I mean, who hasn't pretended to be a caterpillar when sleeping in one! )but I guess vaulting and rolling might prove difficult.

Could you buy some cotton basics (leggings, T'shirt) that you can dye green

that's hard, deely bopper type things for the head. you could always just get a really long white t-shirt and print some big circles down it with fabric pens?

LL's determined to get bedding in there somewhere

or make a mask like this bizarre thing and just wear leotard but add ribbon or crepe paper stripes around it?

Thank you all for your suggestions. LL - she can't really be too padded as it's probably going to be fairly hot, and as well as rolling through hoops and vaulting she has to do lots of running and star jumps. Adn astra - deely boppers are a no as they'd stick in when rolling.

I've ended up with green tights, which I'll have to cut teh feet off and sew up, and 2m of green felt, I'm thinking even my sewing skills can manage to run up a tabard with a hood, and I can use pipe cleaners to create feelers on the side of the hood, and she can push it back when rolling.

dd was a hungry caterpillar for book day

Red facepaint round eyes, green face with red dot cheeks

Skinny plastic alice band with pipecleaners attached for feelers

Green tshirt and brown leggings

She carried a giant leaf (cardboard cut out in leaf shape and painted with poster paint)
And a copy of the book

(I know she'll be doing gym .. but the leaf really did make it look pretty damn fine she can discard it before she jumps around)
