So, I’m 68, a practically been there, done that type of woman and I’ve been thinking a lot about who and what females today, worldwide have to contend with.
I was lucky growing up, we were old school, tough as nails and probably the start of the latch key generation, women were just starting to realise they could have kids and work, if they wished to.
So here we are about to enter another year and I’ve come to the conclusion that today’s women need to know more to help themselves in 2026.
Back in the day, these were taught in school, (one’s I attended).

Firstly, I think we all should at least know the basic’s of first aid, in particular if pregnancy and having children, is a possibility.
Knowing what to do for yourself or somebody else in an Emergency, could save a life.

Secondly, every woman would benefit from having some sort of self defence skill, especially in today’s world, where in some places even walking to the shop is a dangerous mission. Men only attack us because we are seen as the weaker sex, as a soft target, as vulnerable and unable to do anything to defend ourselves. This like First Aid could also save a life.

I’m putting this on the forum, in the hope that just one of you reading this, will think it’s a good idea and with the hope, that it may at some point in your life, actually enable you to escape a SA and/or abuse.
(I know both are life savers, personally).

Totally agree. First Aid and Self Defense classes are very empowering for women.

I have to have First Aid for my job and did a Self Defense course aged 58. I learned so much in 2 days.

Joanna Ziobronowicz has a brilliant book "She fights back" well worth a read.
I signed up for Krav Maga and Jujitsu classes after reading it!
