Speech and Communication delays

Hello. My wee boy is 11.5 months old and recently I’ve found my self saying “I can’t wait till he can communicate a bit more with me” until I’ve realised he’s probably not communicating where he should be.

he has all the typical signs for this delays. Doesn’t respond to name, doesn’t point or wave and doesn’t babble, can only say things like ‘ah” and “eh”, squeals or grunts.

on the plus side he does enjoy social interaction, he will hand me toys, shake something a smile and look at me, cuddle cuddly toys, reach to be picked up, put his arm up for me to put his bibado bib on, plays peek a boo and looks for toys once I hide them. He also knows the words no and will stop and look at me however smile and continue to do what he’s doing but crawl away quickly if he hears me coming.

he crawls, cruises, walks with walker and eats well, he does his usual explore toys, open and closes drawers, put objects into things etc.

when he’s in a baby class he’s always the baby off doing something “busy baby”.

im wondering if anyone else has experienced these things? I’m trying to save myself from going down the autistic route however the thought of my baby never being able to communicate with me is breaking my heart in two.

id love any stories from people in similar situations.

thank you x

He's not even a year old. He is well within the range of normal development.
