Hi all, possibly looking at moving from London to Lichfield area. Me and my partner are starting a family and have a dog and a cat.

We have a large budget to buy so ideally looking for a decent area with greenery, easy access to transport links and roads plus we like a little cosmopolitan atmosphere.

any tips on areas? Thank you

Shenstone is lovely, I live just down the road 🙋‍♀️

Ohhh really! We haven’t been but family from Tamworth have been raving about it and we’ve found a few houses online. We will check out the area in a few weeks at Xmas.

it seems like a nice village very close to Lichfield and Tamworth plus good commuting links. If you have any other locations you’d recommend I’d love to hear them

For all but the cosmopolitan vibe, Abbots Bromley might fit the bill

Shenstone is nice but cliquey, I’m from the area. Lichfield is very nice though, parts of Tamworth nice like hopwas, coton green, Wigginton area.

Depends what your lifestyle is like? I think moving from London you’d be better suited to Lichfield with it being bigger and more stuff going on. Shenstone is lovely but a small village so would be a huge adjustment.

ohhh we haven’t been there! I think the commute maybe slightly to long as it adds an additional 20mins but it looks lovely so we will visit regardless. We did like Kongs Bromley actually so that’s jus reminded me thank you

That’s a good point. We quite like the idea of being slightly out of the bustle after 20 years of it but equally it maybe such a drastic change so it is something we should consider

Such an adventure, to find a new spot to call home. Having moved several times myself, Id encourage you to try, if at all possible, renting for six months or even a year before finally (sic) buying.

In any area, there will be so many thinks you only know when you have lived there. All the best

@ForesthealingLichfield is going to be a whole different kind of bustle if you’re coming from London, it’s a small city, it’s a town but only classed as a city because of the cathedral, so I don’t think it’s busy at all, it’s a nice area, some lovely buildings and streets, just a cute place

Thank you for this comment. This has been a discussion for me and my partner the last hour. Prompted by your comment 🙏 you’re right! Renting before buying is sensible.

We are trying for a baby at the moment so if we are lucky soon renting first is probably the best option!
