Whooping cough

My two year old (3 in jan) has been really really poorly the last couple of weeks, we had her back at the doctors today and they have said it’s whooping cough, however when she got up this morning she was crying in pain saying her legs hurt, she hasn’t walked all day, and will only let us carry her like a baby. I have just taken her to the potty and asked if she could stand up while I pulled her pants up, and she’s crying saying it hurts. We did mention this to the doctor but they sort of shrugged it off, is this something anyone else has seen? And should I be concerned?

any advice would be hugely appreciated!’

I’d phone the non emergency line (101 I think for medical help). I’ve had it twice, as a child and about 7 years ago, I don’t remember sore legs but it may be referred pain or something else. I had to sleep upright so was kind of laying across the back of our corner sofa just to get some sleep - it’s miserable and the vomiting is not fun either - I hope she gets well soon, but it took me month and months to get back to myself, I think maybe 8 months as an adult, but the first month was the really horrible bit, the rest was low grade fever, coughing, wheezy chest etc
is she on antibiotics now?

See, that’s another thing, I’m not even confident it is whooping cough, she does have a cough but it isn’t terrible, we where told last week it was a chest infection and tonsillitis, then today that it was whooping cough, but the symptoms just don’t match! Thanks for your reply x

I had WC as an adult and felt really poorly - but didn't have any pain (apart from muscular aches around my ribs from coughing).
I think you can only say it's WC for certain after swabs have been taken and tested.
The only times I have had really bad leg pains is when I've had COVID.

Yeah, I’ve rang 111, but still waiting for a call back, they must be super busy! Covid did cross my mind, I feel unwell today and have a splitting headache and my body is hurting! Not sure if the symptoms now or if there is maybe a new strain going round?

God knows how many new strains there are since it first appeared 🫠
