Moving to Lichfield or Warwickshire

I am currently living in Birmingham with my partner and 7 year old daughter, however we are considering moving to a smaller city/town. The reason for this is to be closer to the countryside while also being close to the amenities of a town. I feel it would also give our daughter more independence and freedom as she grows up, so she can walk or get the bus into town to meet her friends or look around the shops independently etc. I am thinking maybe Lichfield or Warwick/Leamington Spa. Lichfield seems a bit smaller and I wonder whether there is much for teenagers to do there or do they end up getting the train into Birmingham City Centre to socialise rather than Lichfield centre?

I think there would be more for her to do in Leamington Spa. The other thought would be to live in Warwick and to travel into Leamington for more amenities and restaurants/bars when we feel the need! We would also like to be somewhere friendly and welcoming with a community feel.

Any thoughts on these places or others (preferably to the east of Birmingham as we are still relatively close to family then) would be appreciated 😊

Check the schools before you make your decision, state secondary provision in Warwickshire is mediocre at best unless your child can get into a grammar which would be a fair distance on the bus from Warwick or Leamington.
Both are good for bars, cafes, public transport etc although when I lived there in my early 20’s we still got the train into Birmingham regularly 😉

I’d look at Worcestershire. Some nice towns with easy access to Birmingham if you need it. Schools are generally far better over there as well.
