...are those dependent on state benefits still subsisting on the same paltry weekly allowance?

As a lone parent I have been in work and out of work from time to time, sometimes supported by Tax Credits, other times dependent upon Income Support. The money never really stretches far enough, but how on EARTH are we supposed to survive if everything is now costing more.

An annual review isn't good enough. My weekly costs are rising and rising, from week to week pretty much, so if my allocated benefit is the minimum I need to live on in April, and prices have risen since then, how am I supposed to be surviving in June?

Anyone else REALLY struggling- more than ever?

very iosolating and stressful

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:11

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:13

Enid · 09/06/2008 14:14

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:15

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:16

the big yogurt pots are cheaper arent they? or are you all at school and work and stuff

nailpolish · 09/06/2008 14:16

you wouldnt be with a stranger on the end of the phone

some of them just want to chat about normal stuff in the end you would find

objectivity · 09/06/2008 14:16

I am actually seriously considering prostitution. Do you think stretch marks matter if you want to work 'high end' in the, um, market?

OP posts:
conniedescending · 09/06/2008 14:16

fine, don't do it then

no one has ever told me to fuck off

sitting on your arse waiting for your next state handout is far more soul destroying imo.

the things that is probably stopping you getting a job zippi is your negative attitude.

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:18

i also have a phone phobia

i dont actually amswer the phone

it is true however that in some situations it is hard for people to cut back

food always seems like the easiest but actually you can make big savings when you renew insurance

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:19

i dont think i do have a negative attitude

i do have some problems

i dont receive any hand outs

nkf · 09/06/2008 14:25

A phone phobia or you don't like answering it?

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:25

connie you didnt answer what technical qualifications teletech wanted or are they the database people?

i dont have any technical qualifications so i am guessing i wouldnt be qualified

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:28

a phone phobia as in i avoid using the phone

if i do have to i either get someone else to or i have to psyche myself up and make notes first

nkf · 09/06/2008 14:28

That must be difficult.

conniedescending · 09/06/2008 14:29

do you really want to know as I sense it is a waste of time me replying otherwise!

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:30

well it is annoying

i dont talk socially on the ohone either

unless people make me

my bf asks if its ok to phone me by email first

and then i write a list of things i could say ready

but i dont nejoy it
i just wait for the time to come when i can say right id better go

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:32

well i dont understand why they dont say on the website qhat qualifications you need

i dont have any office tyoe qwualficiations and i cant type so i am guessing i wouldnt be qualified as they say you need qualficiations

do they have jobs that dont involve ringing people up

conniedescending · 09/06/2008 14:32

zippi - if you dont like talking on the phone then call centre work or database cleansing is not the best option for you.

zippitippitoes · 09/06/2008 14:33

it might be helpful for people reading the thread connie as presumasble people are not generally averse to using the phone and can type etc
