Live in Pinner, Middlesex.

Seems like every 10 - 15 minutes a low flying plane / jet / low flying noisy aircraft of some description is flying over our house.

DD2 is freaking out every single time one goes over.

Never had this before until this weekend.

Can't bear the idea it might go on and on. Not because of the noise but because DD2 freaking in terror each time.

What with their fear of flies and now any rumbling noise, this is going to be a long, long, hard summer!

Anyone know anything about them and whether they'll stop soon?

oh poor you .....must be some weird temporary thing surely?

BlueDragonfly · 09/06/2008 10:20

is there an RAF nearby? or an airshow in the near future?

Thomcat · 09/06/2008 10:23

No idea. No airshows round here that I can think of. Poor mite spent yesterday running in screaming with hands over her ears every single time. We were all having a BBQ and she sat in the kitchen on her own They're not even that loud. And now she won't come out from under the table

Northolt air base is nearby but never had this amount of low flying aircraft before.
Really hope it stops soon

are they normal looking planes (ie your average british airways passenger plane) or fighter type planes/cargo planes?

futurity · 09/06/2008 10:25

i've noticed noisy planes this morning as well...very unexpected for this time of day. We are in North Herts/South Cambs border.

Thomcat · 09/06/2008 10:29

I haven't got to see them yet. You can just hear them. Although our childminder asked me on Friday if I had seen / heard 'the jet planes'. She said 2 roared over her garden so low and so loud she couldn't hear the screaming of the kids who were in the garden at the time, which is wear Eve's fear has obviously stemed from. Since typing this I've heard about 3, but not that loud.

Can you just ring Northolt and ask them what they're playing at, TC?

I got this number from the phonebook:

020 8845 2300

(there is no number on their website )

BlueDragonfly · 09/06/2008 10:33

have looked at the RAF site and BAE but can't see any shows or bases near BUT my geography is really really crap and i could be wrong!

evenhope · 09/06/2008 10:41

We seem to get loads of low-flying olden-day type planes over our house every weekend. Yesterday I looked out and there were 5 in a row going over. No airshows on that I could see. Very bizarre. (we're in Kent)

Thomcat · 09/06/2008 10:47

You girls are soooooooo kind.
Wendy - you are my hero. I just rang that number and they said there were airdisplays happening over the weekend and there has been a bit of activity this morning but it's over now.
Hurray. Oh I am so pleased for DD2 and actually my own sanity!
Thank you, thank you, thank you
