What's this strange light above our boy?

This picture got taken last year in our home by my mum in law on her new Digital Camera.
No other picture has this light on it.
Above the fireplace we have a portrait of my OH Great nan who was from India and was a spiritualist and used to hold Seances.
There are other smaller lights on this picture to the right.
If anyone can tell me where I can get an enlarged picture on here then I would be grateful.Photobucket is having trouble allowing the normal size through.

oooooo

RTKangaMummy · 22/01/2005 16:22

IMHO it is a particle of dust

I have had it lots of times

At a silver wedding party I was taking photos of people dancingand it was throwing up dust

I wondered if it was on the lens but like you say it isn't

I had some of DS in his costume from nativity as he was walking away in a long flowing cape and there are loads of spots just like that

KateandtheGirls · 22/01/2005 16:27

OK, I'll tell you. It's a speck of dust.

Moomina · 22/01/2005 16:27

Dust catching the light, I would say. Sorry!

But omg, what a cutie-pie your ds is!

SOULGIRL · 22/01/2005 16:28

I have an open mind so it could be either of these.

On one hand it could be what they call an ORB on "Most Haunted"

On the other hand it could just be a problem with the camera or lighting when the picture was taken. Did you take other pictures at the same time, were they OK? Afraid im strictly point & press so I wouldnt know if it was a technical glitch - you would need a photography anorak to help you with that.

MistressMary · 22/01/2005 16:30

New camera, smaller lights less noticble on the right.
No other "dust" particles seen on others taken at the same time.

looks like dust to me!!

RTKangaMummy · 22/01/2005 16:33

why not carry out experiemnet

get DH to blow some dust in front of camera and see what happens and take some photos

I am sorry but I am convinced they are the same as the ones on my photos

MistressMary · 22/01/2005 16:35

okay no need to apologise.
You saying my house is dirty?

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 22/01/2005 16:37

no way

but it only takes one particle

If you cant find any dust then use flour

MistressMary · 22/01/2005 17:15

oh well!

Casmie · 22/01/2005 17:42

Twiglett · 22/01/2005 17:46

oh its dust

they happen all the time

ORBS

MistressMary · 22/01/2005 22:32

Awww, I thought it looked good anyhow.
My partner said what a big bit of dust we have.
And with the smaller ones too, but then I do like Most Haunted!
