Jamie Oliver's restaurant

A bit embarrassed to mention this when so many of us are contributing to the saving money thread - but DH is treating me to a weekend in London for my birthday in May & we are thinking of going to Jamie Oliver's restaurant, having enjoyed the TV series. Has anyone eaten there? Any comments welcome.

According to a friend its fully booked until April and they aren't taking any more bookings.

We tried to get a reseveration and was told it was fully booked 'till end of March too. It is also confirmed on his website. He keeps updating this on his website - in the diary bit. He also recommends just to keep phoning 'cos they do get reservations. Also, there is a another bit in the restaurant where you can go for a drink, snack or breakfast and there is no bookings here - maybe you could try that?

I don't know anyone who has been yet but I did here that the prices aren't that cheap, especially the wine. But, it is a recognised charity, not all profit at least.

I've been for breakfast which was pretty much empty. Service was shambolic but the food was good, aside from the carton organge juice. Decor looked pretty awful in the morning light but probably looks better at night. Lots of people from the programme were visible when we were there which was fun.

Calling all Jamie fans. i'm trying to do a recipe of his for roast pork with parsnips, red onions and stuffed apples, only to find the supplement from the Mail with the pork recipe noy says see the weekend section for the stuffed apple recipe.
Has anyone got it?

cos, I think it is in his new book, unfortunately I am just about to go out (already late) but I will check and post later if no one else can help you.

Cos, the stuffed apples are as follows:
6 good eating apples
2 ahndfulls of fresh sage
1 heaped tsp ground allspice
2 cloves garlic
zest of 1 orange
150 softened butter

Basically, you bash up everything in pestle and mortar except the butter. When it is ground to a fine powder, add the better. Score around the middle of each apple to stop it bursting and take out most of the core leaving a little at bottom to hold the stuffing. Put the butter/stuffing in the core cavity and use any excess butter smeared on the pork. Bake apples, butter side down in tray with the onions and parboiled parsnips for 1 hr with pork on top. After 1/2 hr, remove tray from oven, remove pork to a plate and carefully toss the onions and parsnips in the pork juices without disturbing the apples. Replace pork and cook for the other 1/2 hr. HTH

Oh good, Oxocube came to the rescue! You must let us know how it goes, I haven't tried any of the recipes from the new book yet but that one looks particularly scrummy!

I think you'll find that they saved the pork, not the bacon!
