89th birthday gift ideas

Hey!

My Grandad turns 89 in a few weeks time and we are seriously struggling with gift ideas.

I find men harder to buy for at the best of times, he doesn’t like sweet things and has pretty much stopped drinking any alcohol.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Music from his 20s and 30s.

Decent leather gloves with a warm lining (eg cashmere).

Binoculars for watching garden birds.

Day trip together on a steam train.

Day trip together is a great idea! Time spent together is always a good option, at least that's what I've noticed with elderly family members.

Would he like a family related gift maybe? Maybe a photo calendar with family pictures (here is an article on making one yourself or there are photo stores and online services that do that!) or a photo book with all of his pictures you can find. You can even colorize the black and white photos to reprint them for a book, either in Photoshop or through programs like Photoglory or Kolorize.

If he's into nature, you can get him a smart bird feeder with a camera
