My step daughter was meant to start secondary school last week, however still has not been.
We are concerned as she has now missed all the settling in time at school and worried this is the beginning of her dropping out.

Shes a bright girl but seems her this is not her mothers priority.

Background Is her two brothers have not been to school in years… seems there are no repercussions. Turns out they have SEN now so that may be why nothing has happened but my step daughter definitely doesn’t. Her mother seems to be more preoccupied with the man she is seeing, and stays up all night doing what ever and leaving the kids to do what they want. And then they all sleep all day.
We know mum does drugs and the house is apparently dirty but no matter who we contact, there never seems to be any help or intervention.

What can we do? We are so worried but at a loss. I told my husband he should call the school. Would this help? Can anyone give any advice?

Why hasn’t your husband contacted social services over her poor home life?

Who is that have you tried contacting OP?

I definitely think your H should talk to her school.

He has spoken with social services many times. The don’t appear to take any action, they speak on the phone and they are never allowed entry to the house and it seems to be accepted.
We are hoping the school can now help.

Why hasn’t your DH done some thing much sooner! If this was your child would you allow it. I’m not sure I could be in a relationship with a man who seems to have such little concern for his children.

And your husband has not been concerned enough to follow up with the inclusion officer, SENDCO, courts to seek residency? What contact does he have and has he had legal advice?

You might want to ask mnhq to add more info to your title or post again in Education or Stepparenting, as it is too vague to get useful replies,
