1st birthday present ideas

Help! Baby boys 1st birthday is coming and we are clueless about what to get him. He has an older brother so doesn't really "need" anything as we have everything our eldest had in storage.
I don't want to buy stuff for the sake of it but need ideas to give family etc

Books! Lift up the flap, noisy books, tactile books, books with a toy.
Musical toys/ baby band type.
Shape sorter/ ball roller pegs and hammer toy. Bath toys.

My younger daughter got a ride on car and a first balance bike- the sort with the chunky wheels for tiny children. These have been played with a lot- the car gets played with by much older children as well as my now two year old and the bike really made the transition to normal balance bike at about 20 months smooth.
One of those globber scooters looks cool that has a seat that can be removed and turned into a normal scooter too.
