I Am reaching out for help because I have had none at all from the phone provider at all.

so firstly I do not have contact with my ex as he was abusive.
His mobile phone contract with EE is in my name and my email is attached.
i have never paid this bill has it’s always come out of his account. He is now refusing to pay it as it’s another way for him to punish me.
I contacted EE customer services, Facebook and Instagram and all I was told is to pass on a temporary password for him to set it up however that is pointless as he is refusing to pay.
my other option is to just pay the rest of the bill which I believe is over £180!
What else can I do? EE has been so unhelpful. I’m just being punished yet again.

Gently, if it is in your name then you are liable. Can you take steps to cancel the contract and then agree a payment plan with EE?

RogerR4bbit · 29/08/2025 13:34

If you cancelled his account would there be any cancellation fee?

Mrsttcno1 · 29/08/2025 13:58

Unfortunately because it is in your name there is nothing you can do really other than either pay it or let it default- but it will be your credit file impacted by that default.

DoRayMeMeMe · 30/08/2025 21:40

He’s refused to pay, so the fucker does not get to use the phone. Please tell me you have canceled the contract.

But yes, unfortunately you have to pay.

Speak to CAB. They may be able to liaise with the phone provider and establish that you were financially coerced into taking the contract.

If it’s all in your name then surely the iPhone itself is in your name too, so you tell him to return your property or you’ll call the police

BetweenTwoFerns · 31/08/2025 08:37

EE are unhelpful generally I find.

The first thing that you need to do is cancel it by whatever means necessary.

Then I’d probably offer to pay a low amount a week. £180 is a lot but on the other hand it could have been thousands and thousands.

Thank you for all your responses.
im happy to say it’s wasn’t as bad as i was originally told.
Yes it was upto me to cancel and I had to pay but only for that month.
Stupidly had a few accounts in my as we were married so I didn’t question it all paid and done now so I should feel filthy rich next month ☺️
