Where to move to - Uxbridge?!

Hello all, I am moving back to the UK with my two young children. I am SO happy to be coming home!
My husbands job will be near Harefield in Uxbridge. We would like a vibrant and fairly well kept town with good schools and lots on for kids within 35 minutes drive of Harefield. Does anyone have any suggestions on towns to look at? Thank you 🙏

Uxbridge has a reasonable town centre with plenty of chain bars and restaurants and ok shopping - it has a M&S, Primark, TKmaxx etc. It’s not amazing at night time, definitely a bit rougher round the edges, but easily avoided.
Depending on your budget, Ickenham is definitely nicest to live in with the better schools and regular buses into Uxbridge.
Ruislip comes a close second but is a bit more older demographically, it’s quite bungalow and retiree heavy.

Might be worth considering towns outside m25 in Bucks or Herts. .Uxbridge is very urban and busy, although you may be used to similar. Would dh drive to work?

Thanks @HoratioBum and @LIZS . I am not a huge fan of urban 🤣. I was hoping there were some pretty towns close by with lots of green. We used to live in Romsey on the south coast and it was more like this. I like the look of St Albans but wasn’t sure if it’s a bit far?
yes he will drive to work

Have a look at Denham or the Chalfonts, nicer areas and more rural. Ickenham and Ruislip are Suburban but are both on the tube which makes them desirable for access to London

Uxbridge is really grim.

Look at Ickenham, Rickmansworth, Harefield itself, definitely Ruislip, Denham, Iver.

Maybe Watford and surrounding areas.

Northwood or Pinner but way more expensive.

St Albans is great but very expensive and the trafffic is horrendous.

Iver is lovely

I would stay away from Uxbridge personally and would instead look at Ruislip, Eastcote, Pinner or Northwood…all dependent on your budget of course.
