Bathing help!

My baby is 4 weeks on Monday and we still haven’t bathed her. She has a top to toe pretty much everyday but she never has a long enough wake window to give her a bath as she only wakes for feeds and then pretty much goes back to sleep. How long is too long to wait to give her a bath? I don’t want to wake her up for it.

I don't think it's a problem, per se, but probably time to try to bathe the baby soon. Also it's a lovely activity and so nice to hold a freshly bathed warm baby.

I know the wake windows are super short at that stage so it can feel impossible. I'd recommend doing it mid-feed, so if breastfeeding, after boob one, or if bottle feeding just halfway through. The bath distracts them enough so they don't usually mind. You can follow the NHS video on bathing your baby which I found very helpful.

Then rest of the feed and off to sleep. I found that doing that usually resulted in a longer stretch of sleep right after, which is a bonus too and helped to motivate me to make it part of the bedtime routine
