Okay guys, How do you do those links? - you know those ones underlined in blue?

There have been times when they would of come in handy.

Cheers (There should be one of those smiley faces here - but I don't know how to do those either)

i know how to do a smily face (only because someone told me yesterday) its : followed by ) and when you post it appears.

sorry don't know about the links, not been much help really.

Its quite complicated and I can never remember how to do it, but if you look on 'Getting Started' at the top of the thread (under the Mumsnet heading) it tells you how to do smileys and links. Lots of curly brackets and slash symbols etc. I always have to write it down if I do a link.

WideWebWitch · 05/01/2003 21:47

Furball, you type \link then a curly bracket like this then the addresss of the site including the www bit, then you do another backspace \ and type HERE or whatever text you want to show followed by another curly bracket {} The instructions are here!

WideWebWitch · 05/01/2003 21:58

How weird, it put both my curly brackets together. I'll try again:

Type \link
Type
Type the address i.e www.mumsnet.com
Type \
Type HERE or whatever text you want inserted
Type {}

Let's see if that works.

WideWebWitch · 05/01/2003 21:59

Nope, still put them both together. Hope you get the idea!

Furball · 05/01/2003 21:59

Hey, I thought maybe they could be here

Not easy though is it?

Marks out of 10 for first try?

10 out of 10, did you write it down? It always takes me ages to post a link and I'm surprised that nobody else had already done it by the time I'd got my last message typed out.

Furball · 05/01/2003 22:07

I opened another window with the instructions on and just kept flicking between the two - was that cheating? But blimey it's not exactly the easiest is it?

And if you want to put more than one link in a post, you have to include a comma somewhere in the text between the two links. Anywhere you like, as long as there's a comma. Otherwise you lose the first link and everything until the last one.

I don't think the instructions say this

PamT · 06/01/2003 08:18

AAahhhh so that's how you get two links in one posting!

SueW · 06/01/2003 20:50

Cor thanks Soupdragon. You're a star! How did you work that one out?
