1st world problem but bloody annoying
I had notification that early bird tickets were available for a Christmas event ( sorry to mention the C word this early in the year). As they are expensive and while I have a bit of cash I decided to buy. Easy to fill in form until the payment. I can’t just enter my card details I have to register with a card company which will store my card details. This will (apparently) make future purchases easier. As I buy from this Company once every Preston Guild there is no need.

It’s bloody infuriating as if I want the tickets I’ve now got to drive to them and hopefully buy in store, which isn’t open until Monday.

Grumble over.

Is there a way you can continue as a guest?

Goodchicken · 14/06/2025 09:01

The tick box will be giving them authority to store your details
If you don’t give permission, they won’t store

Goodchicken · 14/06/2025 09:02

What’s the link and I’ll check it out

I’ve been back on and the only option is to click the Autofill link.

What website is forcing you to accept that they will store your CC derails OP?

wobblybrain · 14/06/2025 15:56

Doesn’t autofill mean it fills the form in for you using stored information in your device?

Yes

I think the op may be confused hence asking for the website in question

PatriciaHolm · 14/06/2025 15:57

Autofill is the way your browser stores your payment details, not the company you are buying from - is that what you mean?

When you enter a new card, you sometimes get an option for your operating system to save them for future purchases, but it's not the company you're buying from.

Hadalifeonce · 14/06/2025 16:02

There is a company that does this, I have had to do this only today for an online order. As soon as the order was confirmed on the site, I clicked on the link and deleted my card details.

What company?

Hadalifeonce · 14/06/2025 16:46

I can't remember the name, something like Shopify.

You made the order today?

Productiveweek · 14/06/2025 18:51

What a surprise, those saying that they made a purchase where the company definitely stores their CC details without asking them for Permission have “forgotten” the website despite making the order… today.

as for the Op, what website were you on? And “auto fill” which was your response to a Pp isn’t an answer! 😆

Shopify is a payment service it’s not a website you order from.

Yes, I ordered from a website, and payment was made through this Shopify set up. It stored my CC details, so I went in to delete my card details.

As expected, if they’re stored your details it was because you gave them permission to by

The other options to pay were PayPal or Google pay (I think) neither of which I use, so it wasn't so much opting in as being over a barrel if I wanted to buy what I wanted online.

For some bizarre reason I still can’t pay for the tickets but we opened the link on my daughter’s phone and have ordered and paid for 3 tickets.

Technology just baffles me.
