Garden fence damage

My garden fence (my fence, not my neighbours) is being slowly damaged due to next doors tree growing up against it. The tree is also up ending the patio brick path.
Help me out with how I should ask them to get rid of the tree without sounding rude.

Oh God! this Is the kind of thing I would really fret over. All you can do is say it with a friendly cheerful tone and hope they are reasonable people. A simple ‘hi, can we have a chat about your tree? It’s just starting to cause us some issues, could you pop into my garden and I’ll show you?’ and take it from there is all I can suggest. I just wanted to bump really in the hope a few more people saw so could offer suggestions. Good luck!
