I wasn’t sure where to post this…
I have a postbox at the corner of my road. I have used it ocassionally since I moved here. I would sometimes be told that my letters/cards weren’t received by the people they were sent to, but I assumed that letters got lost in transit (plus I don’t often get feedback about letters/ cards I send).
I posted a birthday card to a friend a week ago. The post box seemed a bit full but I didn’t give it much thought. Then my friend told me she didn’t receive my card. Tonight, when passing the postbox, I noticed that it was very full and I had a thought…. I started to extract the letters through the opening one by one and, after about 30- 40 letters, I reached the card I had posted over a week ago!! The postman has probably not emptied this post box in months given how full it was. I will obviously notify the post office but I am furious! I am sick of tired of all of this: the postman not picking up or delivering post, the council not collecting the rubbish, trains being always delayed or cancelled, the internet always getting disconnected. I am always being reminded of all my responsibilities - pay in time or you’ll incur a charge, buy your train ticket or you’ll get a fine, buy a stamp or your letter will not be delivered, pay your council tax or the bailiffs will come, but what about THEIR responsibilities?! What about my rights?! Why does the train company not give me 10% discount on my travel card for being a few minutes late, why doesn’t the internet provider do the same for always having issues, or the council and so on? To apply for any sort of refund or discount you have to go through a lengthy procedure and prepare to be ignored until you insist and insist
Am I unreasonable for being absolutely fed up? Am I expecting too much?
