grandmother section

it might be nice to have a grandma bit, i know with some of my grandkids staying,it would be nice to know how grandparents deal with things.

Yes it would be nice to have a section for all us Nannie's/Gran's

Fostermum , I have one Darling Grand Daughter age 4, how many have you, I think the idea of having a Grand Parent section on mumsnet would be fantastic as I have my GD to stay with me on a regular basis and some times feel like her mum instead of her Gran, lol

hi lynda,i have 3 grandkids at present aged4,18months and 4 months, one more due in march,must be the water round here lol,i have them alot too,do you find you treat yours any different then your own children?

OH yes I do treat her different than I did my own children, I must admit that I let her away with most things that I would never have let my own away with, I spoil her more and give into her more, but is that not what us Grans are suppose to do, I don't let her be cheeky or rude, I try to teach her to be polite ( not always easy ) I have more money now as well than I did have when both of mine were younger so I buy her more, I would be the first to admit that she has far too much and that I shouldn't do what I do but being a Gran to one child it is easy to spoil them and I couldn't do it as much as I do if I have any more grand children.

I think it's a fab idea, as you do have a different relationship with gdd/gds's. My mum will be the first to admit that she is different with my ds to how she was with me (and rightly so). Go for it!

I think it's nice to keep grandparents integrated with the rest of us - sometimes when I'm struggling with either my mother or my MIL it has been good to hear from a grandma who may have a slightly different take on things than I do. If you went off into your own little section you may never come out and talk to the rest of us mere mummies, and I think that would be a shame.

Plus you give us an inkling of how it might be in 20 years time

I was telling my mum about MN and the fact the grannies are doing for themselves and she should check it out - she said "Well, if I can get your father off ebay I will look in"!!

She always calls him "your father" when he's getting on her wick.

Hi, as you may already know - I have a 2 year old grandson who lives with me and DH on a residency order. I'd love a nrandparents section.

Thank gawd my mum is a mum in a million and we think alike about parenting (I suppose I do what she did when it comes to raising my kids). Ooh, that makes me a mum in a million too. YAY!

now now children as if we wouldwe all learned from our mums, well most of the time,mine was more some one elses mum!
