I think diet can help. People with IBS often know what triggers it and can avoid it but they differ from person to person. AFAIK, things that can be problematic are:

Stress (obviously unavoidable to a certain extent)
Caffeine
Alcohol
Spicy Food
Dairy
Too much fruit and veg
Fizzy drinks
Sorbitol
Some medication

And lots of other things, I'm sure. Have you googled? I am sure there must be some helpful websites out there.

When I was reading about it, it said that CBT therapy can be helpful. Hope you find something that works. I know it's hard to stop eating things you love.
