dutch oven?

i have been looking at this recipe for a beef strogonof and it says to transfer the beef to a dutch oven but what is a dutch oven?

It's like a huge, thick, heavy pan.

It's American for a metal casserole dish with lid - lots of pics here .

Or a giant saucepan I suppose?

I am so sorry to lower the tone on here but if you look at my thread about farting in front of DP/DH someone is talking about a Dutch Oven. So in answer to your question a Dutch Oven it is, apparently, when you break wind and you pull the duvet cover over your partners head to make their eyes sting. Sorry, only going by what I have been told!!!!!
