I love our induction hob and would never go back to gas.

Induction hob every time.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 22/03/2025 19:11

I switched from gas to induction hob about 2 years ago and I would never switch back.

It's also really easy to clean. Quick spray and a wipe and that's it.

ArghhWhatNext · 22/03/2025 19:12

Induction is weird for a wok. It only heats the point of contact. We bought an induction compatible wok but it has a flat bottom and is not quite the same. I’m sure we’ll get used to it. Apart from this, I like it.

LauraNorda · 22/03/2025 19:21

I would always pick gas, even LPG. Having all electric is silly as in a power cut you cannot even boil a kettle or heat a tin of beans. A gas hob can also warm the kitchen up as combi boilers don't work without power.

Ask the people at Heathrow whether a single point of failure is a good idea.

pitterypattery00 · 22/03/2025 19:22

I prefer cooking on gas but wouldn't go back to it. Induction hob is so much easier to clean, and more importantly they don't pollute the home (gas hobs are a big source of air pollution in the home).

Anjo2011 · 22/03/2025 19:25

I was hesitant to go from gas to induction but I did and I love it. Quick and so easy to keep clean.

Clearinguptheclutter · 22/03/2025 19:28

Induction. Never going back and I was previously a gas fan

Sorry, it works for me. Just Google pollution from gas hobs

Tallyrand · 22/03/2025 19:52

Induction is brilliant. Heat instantly, but cools quite quick once switched off (for the feline friends you may have), so easy to clean.

Never have to worry about putting your hand on a live ring like electric hobs, no magnetic base no heat.

My wife was a huge gas fan but even she loves the induction hob now.

ExtraDecluttering · 22/03/2025 19:55

Induction 100% but agree not for woks, we switched about three years ago and I have just put my work out for the charity shop as we no longer use it (It is a flat bottomed one). We use a large heavy bottomed frying pan for stir fries now, it’s not quite the same and doesn’t hold as much but it’s ok.

GoatCatTaco · 22/03/2025 20:10

Hate hate hated the induction we had in a rental. It was the bane of my life, and I was frequently heard swearing at it.
HOWEVER, I'm not sure LPG will give you the effect you are after either.

I'd probably do some serious research into induction if I was you, and go for a quality one (I'm hoping the rental one was on the cheap, and that's the reason is was soo awful.)

myplace · 22/03/2025 20:13

I’ve gone induction. Being fitted next week. The gas hob was a monster, messy and polluting.

Just hope it’s ok though 🤣

TumbledTussocks · 22/03/2025 20:20

I hated our induction hob. Never got on with it.

maximist · 22/03/2025 20:25

I love my induction hob, and wouldn’t go back to gas now. It’s so much easier to clean!

TorieMJ · 22/03/2025 20:27

I got induction on advice of Mumsnet and I love it.
hears up fast, no wobbling pans balancing on rings, no white rings, no change of setting your dressing gown sleeve on fire, easy to wipe down, don’t stay hot to touch.
