Partners medication

My partner is on medication for his mental heath which needs to be taken every day. Before Christmas he was taking it regularly but since then, it's been very on and off. He previously had an alarm set on his phone to remember, he then turned the alarm off as he had been remembering, but is now forgetting. If I mention his medication, he gets defensive, tells me to stop going on and then won't take it until 'he's ready' but he then forgets again or falls asleep (he takes it at night), if I don't mention it, he usually forgets. I suggested turning the alarm back on, which he did, but then cancels it when it goes off. Because of the kind of person he is, I think he has every intention of taking it, but puts it off again and again and then genuinely forgets. He admits his memory is shocking, and I, along with other people, have said he needs to do things straight away so he doesn't forget, but he sees this as being nagged or controlled so doesn't do it. The problem with his medication is, his mood changes after a couple of days of not taking it, which then impacts on the whole family as he's grumpy, short tempered etc, if this wasn't the case, I would just leave him to it, but I feel its unfair for us to have to put up with these moods because he can't just get on with it and take a pill. How can I approach this very touchy subject with him and get him to understand the importance of taking it, not just for us but for his mental health as well

Yeah I couldn't fucking stand that. a grown man relying on me to get him to take his medicine so that he'll be nice to me.

You're his romantic life partner not his carer.

What nice thing did he do for you this week-end?

Not sure how best to talk to him but a weekly pill box, with a compartment for each day, would show what days he has missed.

I'd be out of there.
