ds is very hot and sweaty. he is really niggly from being overheated. he's had a lukewarm bath and now he's got just his nappy on and is lying down with the electric fan on. will calpol cool him down if he's just hot from the temperature outside iyswim and not because he's poorly? and is it ok to give it him when he's not actually poorly?

agree with notjustmom. Plenty of cool drinks.

WrongSideOfTwenty · 11/05/2008 12:53

No I don't think it would help, I would just keep offering cool drinks and cool baths.

nappyaddict · 11/05/2008 12:53

he won't drink anything really worried that he's going to get overheated and dehydrated.

yes, it does sound like he could be a bit ill.

nappyaddict · 11/05/2008 13:12

would a frozen banana cool him down? we've got some of those in the freezer. we've only got water and orange juice in and he's refused both of those.

if he's just hot from just the hot weather then I think he would be drinking.

But if he's reefusing it drink, it is possible that he's unwell. Have you taken his temperature?

sorry i didn't explain very well. he generally doesn't like drinking. it's not odd for him not to want a drink. even if i offer him a drink throughout the day he will push it away and say no more. he usually has 2 9 oz bottles of milk a day and 1 9 oz bottle of water.

i did take it earlier but tbh i don't think our thermometer is very good. it said his was 35.7 and mine was 36.6 - both of which seem too low for it to be right.
