Shall I choose either of these names?
I really love them but worry that despite their popularity, some people might not like them.

If your thinking Humbert would Lolita not be a more fitting girl's name?

BarbaraWoodlouse · 07/05/2008 19:47

Barbara is a fine name

LynetteScavo · 07/05/2008 19:48

No. you shouldn't choose either of these names.

Humbert has unfortinate connotations I feel.

Barbara ok a bit mumsy (that's only cos it's my Mums name )

Humbert makes me think of a John Burningham book about a horse called humbert. Unsuitable name for a child I think.

You know what will happen - you turn up at nursery and there are 10 other Humberts, call 'Babs' at M&T group and 15 girls will come running. I think you should go for a more unusual name - Lilly or Josh maybe.
